    All our recruitment is completed online and as such we are unable to post any application forms.

  3. If the location or position I am looking for isn't currently being advertised can I apply anyway?

    Register for job alerts and we'll email you when your preferred role becomes available. Your job alert request will remain live for a period of 6 months.

  4. If I was unsuccessful will my application be kept on file for other positions?

    We receive so many applications we regret we're unable to keep your details on file. However, register for job alerts and be the first to know when the role or location you're looking for becomes available. You are able to reapply for the same job role 6 months after your most recent unsuccessful application.

  5. Do you accept CVs for applications?

    We require all applicants to complete the online application form to ensure that all applications can be screened on a consistent basis.

  6. Where are you based?

    Our West Coast network covers stations from London Euston to Glasgow and Edinburgh, with stations in between such as Manchester and Liverpool. View our full route map. Our Head Office functions are based in London Euston and Birmingham with our state-of-the-art Talent Academy based in Crewe.

  7. Do you provide visa sponsorships for overseas applicants?

    Unfortunately we don't provide visa sponsorship for individuals. If you see any adverts claiming to do this for Virgin Trains, these are hoax adverts and ignore them.

  8. Do you levy any charges for applying?

    No, we do not levy any charges for applications and do not associate with any international based organisations claiming to provide visa sponsorship. This is Virgin Trains' ONLY official Recruitment Website.

  9. Do you recruit for part-time positions?

    Yes, we recruit full and part-time positions in the same way. If a position is available part-time it will be advertised as such.

  10. Do you provide work experience or university placements?

    Depending on business need we may at times offer work experience or university/student placements. When these are available they will be advertised on our careers page.

  11. Do you currently run an Apprentice or Graduate Scheme?

    Virgin Trains do not have an Apprentice or Graduate Scheme. We do, however, welcome applications from recent graduates to any of the roles advertised on our website.

  12. Do I have to pass exams to work onboard?

    Yes, exams form part of the initial training for all frontline roles in our business such as working onboard or at one of our stations. We are committed to making sure you're properly trained and qualified to excel at your role.

  13. How long is the training process?

    Our Frontline recruits will receive training ranging from 3 weeks to 10 weeks depending on the position. Our training facility is located in Crewe. If you're to be based out of a depot such as Euston or Edinburgh you stay at a hotel in Crewe during the week and return home for weekends.

  14. Do I have to pass a medical?

    Yes. All roles are offered subject to receiving medical and drugs & alcohol clearance. Jobs within the business which are deemed to be safety-critical require a more stringent pre-employment medical.

  15. Do I have to wear a uniform?

    All onboard and station staff wear uniforms. Employees behind the scenes are not required to wear a uniform and can wear whatever they feel comfortable in (avoiding T-shirts with logos that may cause offence!).

  16. What type of roles do you have?

    Everything from onboard customer service assistants and chefs to finance and HR jobs. All our vacancies are published on this website each Wednesday - keep an eye out for what we have to offer.

  17. How do I become a Train Driver?

    Sorry, we are not recruiting for train drivers for the foreseeable future.

  18. How do I become a Guard?

    This position is known as Train Manager within Virgin Trains. These roles are usually recruited for internally. If this is your dream career then we suggest you first apply for a Customer Service Assistant position, or a Head Office role.
