Overview
We are looking for Data Analyst reporting to the Safety & Environment Systems Manager. You will be responsible for the complication of a complete suite of performance reports to support safety and environmental management improvement activity across the Company. The main accountabilities in this role are:
• Design, develop, implement and operate the Safety and Environment Information Management system in reporting, investigating and analysing information on all aspects of Virgin Trains safety and environment performance.
• Analyse safety and environmental information to detect trends in safety related accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying possible causes and precursors and working with appropriate managers, safety professionals and suppliers/contractors to propose and implement solutions.
• Produce quality reports into all aspects of safety and environmental performance, detailing raw and normalised data, trends and targets, consideration of incidents/accidents, progress on action plans and commentary on overall performance. Incorporate presentational techniques which quickly highlight successes and failures and provide graphic representation in a professional manner.
• Set up and manage a system for tracking and implementing recommendations from investigations, inquiries and audits (including those from other companies received by Virgin Trains), incorporating reporting and close-out from Professional Heads.
• Act as meetings manager for Safety Council and other key safety groups as necessary.
• Other duties as directed.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, numeracy and report writing skills are required for this role along with a thorough knowledge of the use and application of SMIS, investigation techniques and NEBOSH certificate.
