Virgin Trains – Subject Information Statement for Applicants for Employment

West Coast Trains Limited (Virgin Trains) is a company limited by shares registered in England whose registered office is at The School House, 50 Brook Green, London W6 7RR which processes your personal data (as defined by the Data Protection Act 1998 (the DPA)) for the following purposes:

  1. the administration of your application for employment with Virgin Trains;
  2. confirming your suitability for the work that you carry out, including any checks that are required by Virgin Trains or any other body to be made with the Criminal Records Bureau which may result in Virgin Trains retaining information about criminal convictions;
  3. in connection with your health including screening and making decisions based on any health records which may be collected by, or transferred to, Virgin Trains;
  4. any statutory requirements relating to you or your application;
  5. monitoring our selection processes;
  6. transfer to your employee file if your application is successful; and
  7. retention of your personal data following the outcome of any unsuccessful application.

We are permitted by the provisions of the DPA to process your personal data for the above purposes and any purpose which is compatible with the above purposes.

Some of the information you provide to Virgin Trains in connection with your application may be sensitive personal data (as defined by the DPA) which requires your explicit consent to permit us to process it. If you do not tick the box on the application form confirming that you accept the declaration then Virgin Trains will not be able to accept your application.
